Today I went to see Guys & Dolls at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. It was really good, I was impressed by a lot of the cast.

Well better late than never, this is one if my pictures taken in Dublin. It was a great day, lots of shopping but was slightly weird being in Dublin city centre at 8.30am when everything was shut! I’m sure I’ll go back!

I went to see Flare Path yesterday, I went to see it because of Sheridan Smith & she didn’t disappoint! All the cast were really good but as always Sheridan stole the show. Definately made me want to see more plays, not something I expected to say! Loved it!

After going to the first episode recording of the new series of two pints I must admit I wasn’t sure about the whole new cast thing, but ya know what? They were brilliant! Can’t wait to go back and see more!

I’ve been lucky enough to see Legally Blonde the Musical 3 times since it opened in 2009 but I always knew in the back of my head I wanted to see Sheridan’s last show. So after chatting to fellow crazy people I decided to book for her last show, I work hard and thought sod it! So I booked my ticket! Well the Monday before the show I decided I really wanted to see the muck up matinee too, so I got a ticket from my boyfriend as a late Christmas present, lucky me!

So I had 2 Legally Blonde tickets, my trains were all booked and I had a lovely group of people to meet me when I got there.

I got on my train and was on my way to London, as always though there were delays on the train to London and closures on the tubes so I was already running late. I was supposed to be meeting everyone for lunch so the 20 minute de-tour around Trafalgar Square didn’t help!

After lunch we all headed for the theatre and sat down for the muck up matinee, it was hilarious! I think my favourite has to be when the waiter brought out 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps instead of 2 glasses of champagne. First Sheridan switched the glasses as hers had less in, tipped it upside down to show it was fake and then started laughing uncontrollably to the point where she sat back, opened the packet of crisps and started eating them! It was so funny. I also liked it when she was trying to pass her piece of paper up to one of the girls on a high platform, turns out they had cut the piece of paper in half so Sheridan started jumping up and down like a loon until the other girl managed to grab it. It was also a nice surprise to see Richard Fleeshman and Duncan James do little walk on parts, Sheridan was so shocked both times she screamed and hugged them. There were so many other little bits that made me laugh too but it’s one of those “if you weren’t there…” etc. But anyways, as my first muck up matinee it was brilliant, Sheridan still got a bit teary even though she still had the evening performance left to do but the audience cheered her on like mad!

After the matinee we all headed down to the stage door, now it’s not something I’d ever done before but thought as it’s the last one I’m going to see then why not! So after buying another programme (programme number 4!) and grabbing a pen out of my bag I waited.

I got Alex Gaumond (Emmett), Simon Thomas (Warner), Chris Ellis-Stanton (Kyle), Sorelle Marsh (Paulette), Jane McMurtrie (Swing/Dance Captain) all to sign my programme, I was well chuffed! Unfortunately Sheridan didn’t come out but I gave my programme to a friend and he waited around after the evening show and got Sheridan to sign it (Yay!!) He also managed to get Carley Stenson (Margot) to sign it too which I was really pleased about too!

In Between shows we grabbed some food and had a wander around looking at Covent Garden and down by the river and before we knew it, it was time for the evening show.

The evening show started and you could already feel the emotion, then Sheridan came up on the lift for the last time as Elle Woods, the audience went absolutely crazy, screaming, cheering and clapping for well over a minute and that was it, Sheridan she broke down in tears, it was an amazing moment but eventually everyone stopped and the show continued. As a little change she said “last day” at Harvard instead of “first day”, it was kinda sad. I thought she did amazingly well to keep it together throughout most of the rest of the show even though the audience went crazy at every given opportunity. When it came to the final song, ‘Find my way’ Sheridan only got a few lines into it and broke down again, she got a hug from Simon and the audience once again went mental to cheer her on, and somehow she got through the last song with help from the other cast members. The producer came on and gave a little speech at the end which was nice and once again we headed for the stage door. I only managed to stay 15 minutes and no one came out in that time so I decided I’d better get my butt to the train station or end up stranded in London.

What an amazing send off for Sheridan and a brilliant day had by all. One line which has stuck in my head which I have to steal from Sheridan’s speech …

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”
